Biography of Michael Kelly

From Mussels to Madras
Michael’s jet set life, that almost washed his family away.
By James Kellie
Michael is an average 16-year-old teenager with one difference Michael has had experience that most of us could only dream on having. When Michael was the age of three Michael’s father a successful mussel farmer, sold up his business and took his family on a round the world trip that has left its extraordinary mark on them all.

Michael’s trip started in morocco for 3 weeks, before moving onto India for six months walking in the wake of the Himalayas in the north, and washing his feet in the Indian Ocean in the south. They then spent a couple weeks in Indonesia, before picking up the air miles on the way Australia, where they spent an amazing six and a half years, until it was cut short by the Australian immigration department due to there visa expiring several years previous.

This however was not the end of the jet set life. One year later Michael and his family returned to the south of India, to the small coastal town of Varkala and the mountain town of Kodaikannal, where they spent four years between the two. But whilst they were living the dream they witnessed the natural disaster that shook the world, The 2004 Tsunami.

Michael and his family were on the beach a mere fifteen minutes before their little piece of heaven was ripped apart by the wrath of the ocean, but thankfully the beach was invaded by crabs who obviously knew what was coming, which forced them to abandon their plans to spend the evening on the beach, they were all very lucky.

Michael now lives a reasonable quiet life in a semi detached house in Falkirk, where he enjoys photography, reading (especially Terry Pratchett), watching movies, (his favorite film is “The good the bad and the ugly”), and of course watching TV where he likes to watch “lost, family guy and six feet under”.
Michael’s taste in music is not what you would expect from a 16 year old, his taste in music is 60’s rock for example “Simon and Garfunkel”, “Bob Dylan”, “Eric Clapton” etc…

When Michael’s older he wants to be a film maker, which he’s wanted to do since his time in India where his family bought hundreds of film’s mainly old westerns which explains his favorite film and actor Clint Eastwood.
But like most teens he’s got to wait and see where his future takes him.
